Franklin's 5th Anniversary in Poznań - A Double Rainbow of Fun (13 pictures)

Today was the annual summer party that the Franklin Poznań site holds for employee's and their families.  It was also the chance to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Franklin in Poznań,  It was such a nice day, it was a double rainbow of fun.  :)

The weather was mostly nice for the party.  We had 2 sets of rain clouds move through, and this picture was taken from the dock of Malta lake just as the 1st set of rain clouds was about half way over.

There were a number of events held, including this dragon boat race.  That is our team from the 16th floor coming in 2nd there.  But I have to give them credit.  They persisted with the race even though the worst down-pour of the day occurred while they were out on the lake.  A bunch of us on short actually had to group up under 4 different umbrella's because the rain was coming down so hard and at such an angle.  Of course, the rain only really came down while the race was going on.  Just as the race ended, so did the downpour.

And here is our waterlogged group happily arriving back to the dock.  Between the rain and water splashing up from the lake, most of them were soaked.  And before anyone asks, No, I did not intentionally miss taking part, I just got down to the lake too late be rower.  Something I was very happy about as a huddled under my umbrella.  :)

This was another one of the games they had.  Stack and climb as many beer crates as possible until they fall over.  The climber has a safety rope to catch their fall that you see.  Earlier in the day my friend Kasia Demidowicz's husband Bartek managed to climb up all of the crates except one before falling.  As far as I know, that was the best showing of the day.  That's not him above, as I missed Bartek's showing, but add the crate in his hand plus 4 more and you'll see just how high Bartek got.

There were also trampolines for the kids (in the background), a climbing wall for the kids, a mechanical bull (just like in Midnight Cowboy), and these padded sumo suits.

There was also this.  Real-life foosball.  Where real people get strapped into the poles and play foosball.  There was even a slot on the side where someone outside the ring drops the ball into play.  :)

Later in the evening they had this group in that had a bunch of drums and worked with the crowd in a big scene playing drums.  The leader was this man with the massive dreadlocks, and everyone seemed to have a ball.  I'm not sure why dreadlocks are so popular hear, but I see someone in dreads pretty much every day.

This is Marva Kington, the senior manager in the Marketing department here in Poznan.  She is also the other American who is on assignment here.  She didn't have one of the drums that were handed out, so she went with a cowbell (more cowbell!!) and these things (I forget what they are called, not tambourines).

And these are the guests of honor.  In the red is Jenny Johnson, EVP and COO of Franklin.  To her right is Alok Sethi, the President of Franklin Templeton Services, LLC.  And the lady in blue is Sheenagh Adamson, the Regional HR Director - Europe.

This is my friend Pawel and his wife Iga.

In the middle there is my friend Kryz sitting next to his sister and Ania.

This is Kasia, Kasia, and Jagoda.  Having fun with the drumming and happy to have their picture taken.

And hamming it up as well.  :)

I didn't realize it at the time, but I got some water on my camera lens when down by the dock, and unfortunately that meant that about half or more of my pictures have problems with big spots or distortions unless I happened to luck out.  But there were still enough pictures to show how much fun everyone had.

And I even managed to record a movie of Jenny Johnson riding the mechanical bull.  But in the interest of preserving my job, I'll send it to her first to see if she wants to share.  ;)

Enjoy,

Dave
