I arrived in Berlin late on Friday afternoon and it was overcast, rainy, and cold. So after arriving at my hotel, I did a bit of wandering around in the immediate vicinity, looking for food and coffee (of course) and generally scouting the neighborhood around my hotel. Saturday was also wet (as you can see from the picture below). But since it was one of the days that shops were open, I did a lot of wandering into shopping complexes and such.

This is what the weather was like most of Friday and Saturday. |

The Galleries Lafayette shopping store connects to a neighboring shopping center called The Q. In between is this large glass roof that is in the middle of the surrounding building. |

This is the famous Sony Center in Berlin. I managed to luck out and have a bit of clear sky when I took this picture, even though it was raining just a few minutes earlier. |

Just up from my hotel was Unter den Linden, one of the main streets in this part of Berlin. And on that street was a Volkswagon dealership that is all inside and which includes the other brands VW owns. That includes Bugatti and this Bugatti Veyron was parked where passers on Friedrichstrasse could stop and look. Not bad for $2 million plus car. |

This is the famous statue of Friedrich the Great. Unfortunately, it's right in the middle of the road, so it's not easy to get a good picture. |

The base of the statue of Friedrich. I was fascinated by the detail. |

This is monument in the Tiergarten to several famous German composers (if I remember right). |
