Monday was a nice clear day, and not too cold. So I decided to head west, toward the
Pariser Platz. At the west end of Pariser Platz is the
Brandenburg Gate, with the
US Embassy on the south side, and
The Kennedy's Museum and Starbucks (the other home of American's abroad) on the north side (among other things).

Enjoy!
West and slightly north of the Brandenburg Gate is the
Reichstag building (west and slightly south is the Tiergarten).

At the north edge of the Tiergarten, just south and west of the Reichstag building is the
Soviet War Memorial. Besides acting a memorial for the 80,000 Soviet soldiers who died during the Battle for Berlin in April and May of 1945, it is also the grave site for 2,000 of those soldiers.

And finally, to west of the Soviet Memorial, I came across the structure below. I had no idea what it was, except that it was called "
The Carillon" or Glockenspiel. I found the structure fascinating, and recommend you read the linked Wikipedia article.
